GAME OF THRONES PLAYING CARDS

Purpose: Design a themed playing card deck of your choosing. All the cards must work as a cohesive system. I chose to do Game of Thrones TV show in an illustrated art nouveau style.

Approach: I researched a lot of art nouveau styles and gathered reference pictures of the characters who act in the Game of Thrones show. The characters were illustrated using the reference pictures in an art nouveau style of bold lines and poses. I based the suits from the house sigils as animal footprints. Each face card is a character from that suits house as well as the ace representing symbols of their house sigils. I used art nouveau flourishes to represent the houses further as well as incorporated those flourishes on the back of the cards. I used the art nouveau typeface Rivianna and drew the colors for the suits from the house sigils and banners.
